Xpro India Limited signs to establish a greenfield project in RAK, UAE.
Xpro India Limited, part of the Birla Group and producer of dielectric films used in capacitors, is setting up its first global manufacturing unit called Xpro Dielectric Films in Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) by investing AED100 million ($27.2 million). From being the first mover in dielectric film manufacturer in India, this is a momentous step in the company’s strategy to expand its global footprint. This move demonstrates Ras Al Khaimah’s dynamic business ecosystem that attracts niche businesses to establish their global start-up in UAE.
Recently, Ras Al Khaimah Economic Zone (RAKEZ) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with The All-India Association of Industries (AIAI), to open up new avenues for mutual trade and investment. This shall strengthen economic ties between the UAE and India. This alliance with AIAI is a strategic step towards welcoming more Indian Investors and Businesses into Ras Al Khaimah. RAK is renowned for its business-friendly environment and strategic geographic location and this MoU aims to create a robust platform for enterprises to thrive and expand.
Xpro India’s greenfield project will be set up in Al Ghail Free Zone in RAK and is expected to begin its operations in second quarter of 2025. The facility will produce 4,500 tons of dielectric films annually using state-of-the-art machinery. The investment will account for around 33% of the total capacity under Xpro’s umbrella, and create around 80 new jobs in the emirate. Xpro’s Indian manufacturing facilities already meet about one-third of the domestic demand in India, and also export to western markets. The new global facility in RAK will supply to markets in the USA, Europe and the Far East, demonstrating Ras Al Khaimah and UAE’s robust international connectivity.
